If you've read my articles, "Life Through Gilded Eyes" or "A Different Kind of Special Education," you've already met my good friend, David Plant.
So rarely do we meet people who inspire us in our lives. Rarer still are those who change your perspective and alter your life forever. For me, David Plant is an inspiration. Despite being developmentally disabled, David has built a full and beautiful life for himself in Chico, California. His house is his workshop where he churns out wood and ink drawings at an astounding rate. He travels from town to town, holding art shows and making friends with his disarming smile. He certainly disarmed me. Now I'm here to share David's story and his art with you.

David Displays His Mural
I met David when he painted a mural on the wall of a local children's resale store.
David Can Do it All!
David's face lit up when he found out I write books for young adults. David has always dreamed of illustrating children's books. And to show me what he was capable of accomplishing, he painted several scenes from my book, Hibiscus, Believe.
